To interpret poems, you need to start by understanding the type of poem it is. Let me give you a quick example of the types of poems: -
Concrete Poem is one with a shape that suggests its subject. The poet arranges the letters, punctuation, and lines to create an image or picture, on the page. Narrative Poem is a story told in verse. Narrative poems often have all the elements of short stories, including characters, conflict, and plot. Lyrical Poem is a highly musical verse that expresses the observation and feelings of a single speaker. After analyzing the type of poem, then you can go ahead and identify the features of the poem which will then guide you on what type of themes there may be. To know the actual themes depends on the content of the poem and not just the structure. Maybe you can share it here? |
