A symbol is a sign that represent something. National symbols are signs which represent a nation. National symbols are very essential as they serve as a reminder of our nationhood to the citizen.

1) The national anthem
2) The uhuru torch (independence torch)
3) The court of arms
4) The national currency
5) The national flag
6) The constitution
7) The presidential standard.
National anthem
The national anthem is the official song of the nation. National anthem is played or sung on a special occasion such as;
a) When the president is about to inspect a guard of honor
b) Before the President addresses the nation and after finishing the address
c) When the president or Vice –President visits another country
d) On the announcement of the death of the President or Vice-President.
e) When the national flag is being hoisted
