Ongoing activities, these are the different activities which are performed by people continuously or it is sometimes called a progressive time. They usually presented by present continuous tense.
For example; (i) we are watching television.
                      (ii)They are trying to escape the class.
                      (iii) I'm cooking some food.
                      (iv) She is cheating during the exam.
                      (v) Ally is playing football.
In this topic, a student is required to perform different activities that are basing on the present continuous or sometimes it is called a progressive time.
These activities may include in-class conversation, telephone conversation or one to one interview.
The verb which is categorized in these continuous activities ended up with ...."ing" for example cheating, playing, washing and others.
 
 
PRACTICE
Read the following story showing the present continuous activities.
               AN AMAZING PERFORMANCE
Rehema; "My phone is calling" Ooooh Michael, How are you
                  Friend.
Michael: I'm good, Rehema tell me, is the show already started?
Rehema: No, But the time is arriving now
Michael: Okay I'm hearing, soon I will be there
Rehema: Okay As long as you are hurrying.....The show is starting
Michael: Ooooh good. I'm listening, in keeping you on the
                Speakerphone.
Rehema: Haaaaa! Haaaa! You can't imagine Michael Diamond is
                On the stage greeting his fans. He is wearing the new
                Chinese freestyles. Ooooh Gosh, It is so amazing indeed.
Michael: My God, are you serious???
Rehema: "Yes" He is singing now, are you hearing this? He is doing a
                 Great job! He is remembering lines, I'm really enjoying
                  this!
Michael: Ooooh! I am trying to hear him, not you.
Rehema: Okay Sorry. I'm just trying to keep you updated. Oh now! He is.... a beautiful girl entering at the upper stage, Diamond is holding a finger up to his mouth.
Michael: Ooooh Rehema I’m scaring, I'm back to home,
 
 
Rules to follow in Present continuous tense
  1. In singular form

He
She           +   is then verbs end with "ing"
It
And I am + verb ends with   "ing"
For example, He is cooking ugali
                        I am going to school
  1. In Plural form

They
We                 + are then verbs ends with "ing"
You
For example, They are doing an examination.
                       Amina and Asha are buying expensive cars
 
EXERCISE
  1. Compose a short story about any activity basing on a present continuous tense
