The Industrial Revolution, In 19th century Industrial and Agricultural activities were mechanized so Europeans nations produced at a greater speed than before so these machines replaced human labor in production, and machines were faster and more efficient than slave labor.
Sugar Crisis in Europe. The sugar crisis was actually between French and the British. It was a result of competition between the two countries for markets of their sugar. Britain advocate for the abolition of Slave trade in order to limit French sugar production.
The demand of Capitalist production, under capitalist production needed worker to seek employers. Employers owned the means of production. There was great demand for raw materials to be utilize the machines in Europe and yield profit.
Religious Reasons
Religious groups and other citizens in Europe argued that slave trade and slavery were against God’s will. They religious people called slavery and slave trade ‘sinful’ .John Wesley was one of the champions of these religious anti-slavery movements.
Humanitarian Reasons
These humanitarian reasons were initiated by people like Wilberforce, Thomas Charkson and others. They believed that slave trade society was formed in 1787. In 1823 I became the British Anti-slavery society. It campaigns helped to influence the public and parliament against the slavery and slave trade activities.
